There are many misconceptions about Fireballs – one is that they are expensive…. as many young sailors have discovered recently to their delight in Ireland a doer-upper Fireball can sometimes be bought for under a grand, ie less than the price of a very very tired Laser…. an example below has just come on the market- while the Northampton hull is tatty the asking price is far less that the value of the mast, sails, blocks and cleats…. the owner would love to see it go to an active sailor and see her raced again…. while not quite as competitive as a Winder hull you could have a lot of fun with this boat….

 ” The good set of sails has been used only once. Also 2 Spinnakers, one used one still crackly! They were unused when I got them. The boat is pretty ok and ready to sail. I don’t think anything needs replacing. She is used and the hull has the usual marks but nothing serious. The trailer is fine though wheels are rough, the launching trolley is also rough.  I’d launch her and race her as-is..”
